«Thank-You Certificate» to the Raetian Museum for Item Loans to the Swiss National Exhibition

Zurich, 1939

The «Landi 39» in Zurich lasted from 6 May until 29 October 1939. It coincided with the outbreak of World War II. Correspondingly, it became a symbol for the «Geistige Landesverteidigung» [spiritual national defence]. This is also reflected in the way this certificate is formulated: the exhibition had «created and strengthened the feeling of togetherness, the love for the native country and the national self-confidence in the whole population», the document states.

The Raetian Museum contributed traditional costumes, construction components, agricultural implements, as well as archaeological objects to the national exhibition. And the steeple cock from Tamins was also exhibited there (compare item 1906).
